Dr. Kalakota primarily practices at Advent Health Cancer Institute in Hinsdale, IL. During her residency, she conducted research in the areas of breast cancer treatment, prostate cancer treatment and CNS malignancies. She has presented her research at multiple national meetings and published them in several prominent medical journals.
Dr. Kalakota is trained in the use of 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SBRT), gamma knife radiosurgery, high dose rate brachytherapy and permanent interstitial brachytherapy. She treats a broad range of cancers including breast, lung, brain cancer, genitourinary cancers, gastrointestinal cancers and gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Kalakota also has an interest in global oncology, and traveled to Tanzania in March 2014 with a non-profit organization called Radiating Hope. The medical mission was to set up a cancer center in the city of Moshi to help serve this area of need, which serves a population of over 11 million people.
Dr. Kalakota enjoys spending her leisure time with her husband who also practices radiation oncology. She also enjoys traveling, running, yoga, and hiking.
